Position Summary A seasonal employee with the Bridgman Parks & Recreation Department supports daily operations at Bridgman parks, beach, and campground facilities. This position provides a combination of customer service, facility maintenance, campground operations, and concession support to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors. Duties may vary by location and daily operational needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain parks, beach, and campground grounds by cleaning facilities, public restrooms, campsites, cabins, firepits, and common areas.
- Perform manual labor including trash removal, litter pickup, sand removal, weed whipping, mowing, and general grounds upkeep.
- Assist with campground operations including greeting visitors, answering questions, making reservations by phone, email, or in person, and checking campers in and out.
- Explain campground & park rules, amenities, and beach conditions to visitors.
- Collect fees, operate point-of-sale systems, and assist with daily fee reporting.
- Support concession stand operations including taking orders, selling merchandise, food preparation and service, and cleaning the concession facility in accordance with public health standards.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service to park and beach visitors.
- Assist with light maintenance tasks and perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Standing or stooping for long periods of time
- May be exposed to environmental elements including heat, cold, insects, bee stings and poison ivy.
- Ability to perform physical labor and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications & General Requirements
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to perform a variety of tasks across multiple park facilities.
- Food service experience is helpful but not required.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.
- Applicant must be 18 years or older.
- Applicant must obtain a valid driver's license.
- A background check is required.
